Fundamo, the world’s largest specialist mobile financial services provider, today announced that leading African operator the MTN Group has chosen Fundamo’s Mobile Wallet solution to power its “MTN MobileMoney” service, which will be available to a subscriber base of over 80 million users across 21 countries in Africa.

Zain targets 100 million East Africans with new m-banking service
Middle East and African mobile telecommunications provider Zain has partnered with banks including Standard Chartered and Citi to offer mobile banking to over 100 million people in East Africa with the launch of its new service, Zap.

Zap will be initially available in Kenya and Tanzania prior to launch in Uganda. Finding a place for 3G mobile television

“Mi” brand of Mobile handsets now available at all PNN’s Speakeezee Stores
Urban youth cell phone users in Africa have been snapping up the” Mi” range of Quality Affordable handsets, and in February 2009 the “Mi” brand has entered into Nigeria via its nationwide authorised distributor, Private Networks Nigeria Limited (PNN).

Launched in April 2008, “Mi” has secured African network operator and leading distribution deals in 10 markets. “Mi – Fones” are officially available in Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda, Mauritius, and DRC to name a few.

In January 2009 “Mi” was the only handset manufacturer in the world to release a Mi – Obama phone (limited Edition) made exclusively for the Kenyan market. This particular exercise which was done for fun got the world talking about “Mi” with endless articles and blogs from the cellular tech world. (Google: Mi-Obama Phone)
“Mi’s” record market penetration is expected to be high in Nigeria because of the brands clever positioning. “We provide the emerging market consumer a range of reliable good looking products at affordable prices with the key focus being on variety” Says Alpesh Patel, CEO for Mi.

Nigerian consumers can find the “Mi” range of funky handsets at all Speakeezee retail stores. The Mi phone product range is an arsenal of slick, status affirming phone models boosted by the flagship “Mi” Metalix range. All of the “Mi” products are available in the market at well under N13,000.00 (Thirteen thousand Naira) Patel went on to say: “We are extremely proud and honoured to have Speakeezee carry our range in their prime retail stores. The Mi handsets will be available exclusively at Speakeezee outlets first and our Nigerian distributor, PNN, will thereafter appoint other Retailers and Dealers nationwide.”

Patel goes on to add “having Speakeezee as our valued Retail partner enables us to deliver affordable warrantied handsets directly to the end consumer”.

The available range at Speakeezee boasts the worlds slimmest Dual SIM GPRS WAP handset – Mi 8801, the Mi210F with an internal FM antenna enabling users to share their music with their friends and the Mi300F with a VGA camera, available in ROSEGOLD (for her) or CHROME (For him) .

PNN has since completed Phase 1 roll out of Speakeezee outlets in Lagos (Ikeja, Surulere, Victoria Island), Jos, Ado-Ekiti, Kano, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Asaba and Benin.
Twenty Five (25) new outlets are now being deployed in phase 2 as follows:
Phase 2:  Twenty Five (25) Speakeezee outlets to be launched in Lagos (Awolowo Road, Lagos Island, Apapa, Yaba, Lekki,Isolo), Kaduna, Abuja, Warri, Onitsha, Eket, Ibadan, Owerri, Abeokuta, Ijebu-Ode, Akure, Calabar, Bauchi, Nnewi, Sagamu, Sango-Ota, Aba, Zaria, Ilorin and Maiduguri.

All the outlets will provide connections to Etisalat, MTN, Celtel, Glo, Starcomms, Multilinks-Telkom, Visafone, Zoom and all other networks. All brands of quality mobile phones and accessories will also be available in all the outlets.
